PALSEAnext 2024 – From Mud to Models

26 August - 28 August

We are in full preparation for the 2024 PALSEAnext Meeting that will take place in Santa Barbara, California (USA) this upcoming August 26–28th 2024. The theme for the meeting, “From mud to models,” underscores our collective responsibility to address the pressing environmental and climatic challenges facing our world today. By bringing together diverse perspectives, innovative ideas, and cutting-edge research, we aim to foster meaningful dialogue and drive tangible progress across a spectrum of critical issues related to sea-level, ice-sheet, and solid Earth changes. Through keynotes, scientific sessions, and an afternoon fieldtrip along the southern California coast, participants will have the chance to engage with leading experts, exchange insights, and forge new partnerships.

Topics to be explored include but are not limited to: – Proxy based sea-level and ice-sheet reconstructions – Statistical approaches to provide improved sea-level scenarios – Modelling interactions between ice sheets, sea level, and the solid Earth over a range of timescales. This meeting is hosted by the Institute of Marine Science and the Department of Earth Sciences at the University of California Santa Barbara (USA) and sponsored by INQUA (Commission Coastal and Marine Processes), the University of California Santa Barbara College of Letters & Science, and PAGES (Past Global Changes) with additional support from the INSTANT (Instabilities and thresholds in Antarctica) research program of SCAR (Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research).

The registration fee is fixed at 100 USD and will cover the meeting, the social dinner and field trip. The registration will open in mid-March and the deadline will be May 15th 2024. We will send further details in due course.
