Postgraduate Quaternary Conference Fund

About the award

This fund supports postgraduate attendance at conferences and field meetings with grants to support registration, travel, accommodation, subsistence and caring costs of conference participation. Applications are particularly encouraged from students in their first year of study. Priority will be given to those with limited alternative sources of funding, and to QRA-sponsored conferences and field meetings. Please note that you cannot apply for conferences taking place within less than two months from the application deadline. Postgraduates are not permitted to apply for funds to attend the QRA Postgraduate Symposium, since this meeting already receives financial support from the QRA.

Award Amount

The maximum award is £900. Multiple grants may be made in each awards round.

Any registered postgraduate who is a current member of the QRA is eligible to apply, regardless of duration of membership or whether other QRA grants are currently held.

Application details

The online application form will take your details including the name and dates of the conference, the title of your paper/poster contribution, and the abstract for your presentation (up to 150 words). You must also enter a breakdown of the main budget components, indicating any other funding sources sought or obtained. A brief supporting letter from your supervisor must accompany the application – submitted as a separate file.

Reporting requirements

Recipients will be required to submit a short report of expenditure to the Awards Officer at within 3 months of attendance at the conference or meeting. You will not be able to apply for other grants until you have received confirmation of the successful receipt of your report of expenditure.

Application deadlines

Twice per year on 15th February and 15th September.
