About: Join us for this walking trip where we will discover the Quaternary history of central London and consider it’s implications for engineering geology. In the morning we will make our way across various Thames terraces, discussing river development and archaeological evidence with Professor Simon Lewis (Queen Mary, University of London). After a lunch break near Trafalgar Square (bring your own or visit various restaurants), we will head to Battersea Power Station in the afternoon where we will hear about the Holocene Battersea channel with Dan Young from Wessex Archaeology and drift-filled hollows with John Davis from GCG Ltd. Discussions will likely continue informally over dinner as well, but this is an optional part of the trip.
How to register: Please register your interest with Dr Becky Briant at b.briant@bbk.ac.uk, who will advise how to pay nearer the time.
