To accurately assess anthropogenic impacts on the natural world and to develop robust predictions of future climate change and its consequences, there is a critical need to quantify and characterise the processes, feedbacks, rates, and magnitudes of climate and environmental changes. Continued advancements in the analysis of palaeoarchives and in the modelling of long-term environmental change are pivotal to achieve this. Similarly, modern analogues play a crucial role in constraining the palaeorecord and facilitating accurate interpretations of past processes.
